Block Paving in Boston & Lincolnshire

Block paving remains the classic Lincolnshire driveway for good reason: individually bedded blocks in brindle, bracken and charcoal tones, laid in patterns that suit period and modern homes alike, and repairable block by block if a service trench ever goes through it. We lay full block drives, patios, and the crisp block borders that frame our resin work.

Laid on proper foundations

A block drive stands or falls on its sub-base. We excavate, lay and compact type 1 in courses, screed sharp sand and lay to falls, then cut and vibrate the field so it stays flat under years of turning wheels. Restraints and kerbs go in first so nothing creeps.

Blocks and patterns

Herringbone at 45 or 90 degrees for maximum interlock on drives; stretcher and basketweave for paths and patios; contrasting soldier courses to frame the field. On a recent project we combined Pesdesta Bracken, Red Brindle and Charcoal, blocks supplied through Travis Perkins, with resin stone in Moodshadow, proof the two surfaces work beautifully together.

Block as the supporting act

Half our block work frames resin: borders, soldier-course edges, entrance aprons and channel details that give a resin drive its architecture. If you are considering resin, the block choice matters as much as the blend, we bring samples of both to the quote.

Questions

Block Paving FAQs

How long does block paving last?
Decades, structurally, the wear items are the joints. We re-sand joints as part of aftercare advice, and individual blocks can be lifted and relaid if ever stained or disturbed.
Do weeds grow through block paving?
Through a properly membraned, well-jointed drive, no, weeds seed into surface joints from above. Regular sweeping and occasional re-sanding keeps them out; we explain the routine at handover.
Can you match my existing blocks for an extension or repair?
Usually yes, the major ranges stay in production for years, and weathering differences fade within a season or two.
