The Ropsley project is the one we show people who ask what "proper groundworks" means. The team arrived to a tired frontage and began by digging the whole area off and having it grabbed away, no shortcuts over the old surface.
The area was then levelled and compacted before clean type 1 hardcore went down in courses. Over the compacted base we supplied and fitted Geo Pave breathable membrane, keeping the build fully permeable, then dressed the drive in Golden Flint 20mm gravel.
The entrances took the detail work: new Sorrento block pavers laid around the sides, then both entrances concreted so a resin surface could be bonded on top with Vuba resin primer, a belt-and-braces threshold that keeps gravel off the highway and gives the drive a crisp, finished arrival.
A lovely finish and a fast turnaround by the team, and a textbook example of why the base underneath decides how long a driveway lasts.
