Patios fail slowly: staining that no jet wash shifts, settled corners, edges crumbling into the lawn. This Chapel St Leonards patio had reached the point where the family simply stopped using it. The before photograph below shows exactly what we walked into.
We took the old concrete up, corrected the levels and falls so water finally runs away from the house, and rebuilt the base properly. Onto it went new grey paving laid to a clean pattern, framed with a charcoal block border that sweeps around the new lawn, and fresh turf to finish the garden off.
The result is a patio the family actually uses, with crisp lines, proper drainage and a border detail that makes the whole garden look designed rather than surfaced. Installed in January, proving good groundwork is not a summer-only trade.
